For the past 15 years, James has been a part-time online, Face2face and Hybrid College Instructor for Lansing Community College, Central Texas College, Delta Community College and Ferris State University. He completed an online Teacher and Master online Instructor training courses; that was a combine training of 140 hours of online instruction. The training was through the Michigan Virtual University. James has held the position of online Course Designer at LCC. This is an Administrative position at Lansing Community College. Before becoming a full time instructor and designer, he worked as a police officer, investigator, and supervisor. Classes he has taught are; State & Local Government, Physical Fitness in Policing, and Introduction to Criminal Justice, report writing, ethics in criminal justice, police administration, patrol procedures, parole & probation, and several other CJ courses. Finally, James hold the rank of Lieutenant colonel (LTC) and he teaches for the Staff & Command College for the US Army Reserves.

- Creating Synchronous Learning
In this session students will be asked to identify the advantage of an online courses, and then they will be introduced to online synchronous learning. Students who were previously unable to attend traditional classes because of time constraints, personal responsibilities, or distance from campus can now access their course via online instruction. Synchronous learning will enhance the teaching and learning experience. Now students can bridge the gap between the flexibility of online learning and still have the benefits of real time instruction. Not to mention the mastery learning possibilities as a result of the archive content.
