Joseph M. Dudley
Joseph M. Dudley serves as the campus librarian at the Cleveland Downtown campus of Bryant & Stratton College. He is also chair of the inter-campus Virtual Library committee, where he works with other librarians across the four-state BSC system to provide access to information resources for students, faculty, and staff. He is currently working with other BSC librarians and administrators to redesign the college’s Virtual Library during the summer of 2013. As a part of that project, he is currently working on a BSC subcommittee to design a unified schema for campus library web portals that will preserve current services levels while creating a unified portal structure for the new design. His research areas include library website design and maintenance and the construction and use of library metadata. He plans expand his current research to examine how BSC campus portals are constructed and maintained after the new website design is in place.
Presenter for the Following Session
- Maintenance and Development of the Library Web Portal at Bryant & Stratton College Cleveland Downtown Campus
Academic library websites have become major service points for both students and faculty, but the professional literature has tended to report primarily on website design and usability testing rather than daily maintenance. In order to contribute to a conversation on the maintenance activity associated with academic library websites and the establishment of best practice guidelines, this paper will first review selected literature addressing library website maintenance and then review daily activities associated with the maintenance of the Bryant & Stratton College Cleveland Downtown campus library portal.
