Recorded: Wednesday, April 17th, 2013 @ 2:00 pm - 2:40 pm HST
Duration: 40 mins
V-Tenn is a virtual sim that provides a variety of information accompanied by virtual simulations for tennis beginners to learn about the basic game of tennis. V-Tenn stands for ‘virtual tennis’, combining the virtual world elements of Second Life (SL) and instructional design. By offering an immersive learning environment, the participant will learn about tennis in various sections of the simulation.
V-Tenn offers participants to learn about tennis from technical, physical, and mental points of view. Lastly, V-Tenn also offers a unique virtual environment with two tennis courts where participants can virtually test their basic tennis skills.
V-Tenn was built on an island in Second Life owned by the University of Hawaii’s College of Education (COE). There were two main levels of learner engagement called Genius Level and Gladiator Level respectively. The target audience for this SL project are adults 18 years and older, have some experience in SL, and willing to learn tennis. This presentation will also be presented in Second Life to showcase the V-Tenn virtual sim.
